Late 19th/early 20th century Impressionist artis Caspers is best known for this work with its lush, voluptuously rendered floral arrangement. The language of flowers - where each flower carries its own meaning, often representing intense emotions unsuited to vocal expression during the repression of the Victorian era - was in full bloom (excuse the pun) when this work was created, one may thus easily infer a wealth of meaning in these particular flowers, from the sublimely innocent...to the sublimely naughty.
