This haunting watercolour by George Cook (not his more well-known almost-namesake George Cooke, do please note!) shows the wreck of a ship run aground, its stark remains relentlessly pounded by the ocean waves. The artist has filtered this scene through vibrant sunset tones, so that the rather sombre subject matter takes on a more wistful, mysterious quality, teasing the imagination with myriad possibilities...
