This well-known work by the 20th century American illustrator and lithographer Dehn perfectly captures the start of sunnier times in New York's famous Central Park. The city hangs quietly in the background, almost disappearing behind a curtain of leafy green while the trees and gentle rolling knolls of the park take centre stage, with the sketchy little human figures clearly enjoying the first buds of spring. An absolute classic depiction of this landmark green belt in the midst of a towering cityscape, in a style so evocative of the 1940's.
